Scratch-it for Schools is an annual event that the OR Lottery has to benefit public schools. For the past four years I have had the opportunity to work on the design of the event's identity. It is an extremely rewarding project for me because I get to combine two of my great passions: design + education.
In this event two people from schools and two people from media scratch event-designed tickets for approx. 5 minutes. All of the winnings go to the school. (For detailed info go to: http://scratchitforschools.org/ ) This year the travel team toured around the state at seven different events in Salem, Bend, Eugene, Medford, K-Falls, Portland and Pendleton.

March 2009 - OR Lottery Raffle Announcement
The OR Lottery had a Raffle game where the winning number was to be announced on St. Patrick's Day. We had the leprechaun that was in the ad campaign return to announce the number. Our media people arranged for the Channel 12 Andy Carson Morning Show as well as various radio stations to air the announcement live. The photo above is the stage that I designed & set up using props from the ad campaign. The men in the photo are Andy Carson, leprechan, and Dale Penn (director of the OR Lottery).
This is our MARCOM team at the Lottery that pulled everything together to make the event happen. (Included are Media, Promotions, Creative, Web and Winner Awareness teams.)
Above is a picture of the lobby during preparation for the announcement.

February 2009 - New Painting
I have started painting again, and it feels great! I am working in oil, so it may be a slow process, but I love it! The painting that I started is based on of a photo I took at Tryon Creek State Park during the Trillium Festival last April. The image is of an Oregon Grape cluster of blooms. I am imagining this painting to be the first in a series of native Oregon plant paintings.
January 2009 - LEGO Land of OZ
In December 2008 we took my son Spencer on a trip to Disneyland and Legoland. While at Legoland we went to a store that sold many different dazzling shapes, sizes and colors of Legos. My inner child couldn't resist the bright colors and flower shapes :)
In the begining of January Spencer and I went to the NW Children's Theatre production of "The Wizard of Oz." So naturally the next time that we played Legos together, I got my fancy new Legos out and tapped into the theme of the last play that we saw to come up with the above silly creation.
